If you’re tempting tech-savvy (welcome to mastodon!) you really need to learn who are the good guys and bad guys. Chrome was great like 10+ years ago, it’s not 2010 anymore.

Haven’t looked at #Reddit in a few weeks, and I really don’t think I want to support that place anymore.
Has taken me some time to look into #kbin and #Lemmy, and I have to say, I’m quite impressed. Even with the *much* reduced user base there’s enough good content and discussion to make a worthwhile alternative.
Did take a bit of work to figure things out and where to subscribe though. But now that’s done, I’m enjoying it. Highly recommend the Voyager app if you want the Apollo experience.
@apologies@infosec.exchange Why not just use use GPT-3 or 4 to generate your messages. That way you’ll make sure the next GPT will go MAD (Model Autophagy Disorder). Once the AI devs realize that all the free sources have been contaminated by AI generated posts, they’ll be forced to be more selective in the future.

Sen lisäksi monet ihmiset myös kirjoittelevat yhtä sun toista monta kertaa päivässä. Vaikka nykyään ei lueta paperisia kirjoja kovin paljoa, nykyään kuitenkin ollaan tekemisissä tekstin kanssa yllättävän usein.

@jmw @steffo@uno.starshard.studio Just a guess: Reddit tries to break the world record of annoying ads and will start selling an ad free experience as a subscription service. However, I still don’t quite understand how it makes economic sense to remove coins and awards. Could be a software engineering thing related to maintenance, development or server things.
@FeralRobots @IamAcand@mastodon.social @feditips The 140/280 character limit is fundamentally incompatible with the coherent communication unless the idea you’re trying to convey just happens to incredibly simple and short. If all you do is post a headline and the relevant link to a news article and a blog post, that limitation won’t really matter very much. Unfortunately, people started using Twitter as a discussion platform, so no wonder why we ended up with a dumpster fire. Oh, and the gasoline algorithm didn’t really help, but it did increase engagement, so I guess it worked, if viewed from a certain angle.

In case you missed it, all links on Mastodon count as 23 characters towards your limit, no matter how many characters the link really is.
So, you don't need to use link shorteners on Mastodon as they won't actually affect the link's length.
Mastodon does this because it's better for everyone's privacy to avoid link shortener services, it means people can see what they're clicking on, and the link won't stop working if the shortener service shuts down.
