Hey #neuroscience #neurotech #neurodon

I'm very excited about a truly distributed community for #neuroscience.

Let's make it easier for new folks (and #twitterexodus #twittermigration) folks to plug into the #neurodon community!

Please add your Mastodon information to this importable community list: forms.gle/sWZyxMGsNefy3kzr5

Deadline to apply for the HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program is 12/7/2022 hhmi.org/programs/hanna-h-gray
Please apply - this is a great program!

Here is a link to my first publication & my first 1st author publication! 🤓🎉🎊

So grateful to be a part of the Keri Martinowich lab!

Many thanks to my co-authors for all the hard and fun work!

#introduction
I am neuroscientist and engineer. Our lab at Johns Hopkins University BME is interested in how the brain computes information about the world and how this representation is shaped by sensory experience from early development up until old age. We focus on the auditory system and use in vitro and in vivo optical and electrophysiological methods, behavioral approaches, etc.

Neuro-evo conference at HHMI Janelia on May 15-18, 2023. Join us for the third edition!

Application deadline: Jan 27 (11:59 p.m. EST) 2023.

"Historically, with the study of the most convenient animal models —from the giant axon of the squid and the lobster's stomatogastric circuits to Aplysia's synapses and C. elegans' circuits — neuroscientists revealed some of the operating principles of the nervous system, which were then found to apply broadly across phyla. The third instalment of this meeting will once again bring together neuroscientists working on a broad diversity of animal models in an effort to compare circuits across phyla as a means to crack their function."

#introduction

👋

I am a neuroscientist interested in the circuit dynamics of adaptive but reliable visually guided behavior.

In our group at the U Bonn, we study

- the stabilization of the neural code in visual perception, learning, and memory

- the pathway-specific processing of sensory and self-motion signals

We emphasize ethologically relevant behavior, longitudinal synapse- and circuit-level optophysiology, and miniaturized and bench-top two-photon microscopy.

This afternoon I am sitting on a Mock #interview panel for a colleague who is interviewing for the same #fellowship I successfully interviewed for this time last year. Unfortunately, I remember exactly nothing from that interview, as tends to be the case with interviews. Anyone have any suggestions of questions for an interview for an #ECR's first fellowship? @academicchatter

I just made an new Mastodon instance focused on #neuroscience at synapse.cafe . I'd like this to be a cozy space to discuss the wonders of the brain, from cells to thoughts. If you do research in neuroscience or even have a general interest in it, come by and check it out!

Because this was my only post ever that got +5k likes on Twitter, it is only fitting that this is my first post here ⤵️

I created an awesome-PhD list on GitHub where everybody can contribute with their own tools and resources! 🔥

✨ Check it out and contribute yourself via pull requests: github.com/helenahartmann/awes

Hello! I'm Lili, I'm a trans woman and a PhD student in neuroscience focused on understanding how animals move. My work has focused on tracking animal movement and building generative models using their 3D angles.

I post mainly an eclectic mix of science, what I'm reading, and trans stuff.

I'm an admin for the synapse.cafe mastdon instance.

#trans #introduction #neuroscience

Please suggest: instances with non-white admins or mods

I would like to be able to make recommendations to BIPOC who have been scared off by the (non)moderation of mastodon.social and some of the other bigger instances.

If you know of an instance where there are non-white people who are doing the moderation (and also that the moderation is good) please let me know.

Thank you, comrades! <3

Hello 👋 this is my .

I'm a postdoc in the lab of Azahara Oliva & Antonio Fernandez-Ruiz at Cornell where I explore circuit-level dynamics underlying learning and memory.

You can check out my recent work here:

Hey #neurodon #neuroscience #neurotech #neuro @neuroscience

Let's make it easier for new members of the Mastodon network to find the #neuroscience (and former #neurotwitter) community. Consider adding yourself to this list of neuroscience accounts on #Mastodon

Applying to grad school? Want to join my lab? I'm accepting students through Psychology (as.nyu.edu/psychology/graduate) or Data Science (cds.nyu.edu/phd-admissions-req)! For more info and possible project areas, see below or check out my website 👉 lindsay-lab.github.io

Remember, friends don’t let friends use the official Mastodon apps.

Get yourself Tusky for Android, or Metatext for iOS. Toot! Is also good for iOS.

Enjoy all the timelines and features.

HAPPY STRIKE DAY to UAW unionized researchers on the UC campuses!

(I would love to be striking with you, but UC is still refusing to recognize the project scientist union.)
