Day 1 of the #NH #FIRSTRobotics mentors conference completed. Spent most of the day getting an early peek at the new #xrp platform. A very slick piece of kit and supporting tools. It feels like you're coding for the hundred pound and thousands of dollars robot but in actuality it's a tiny robot that's just $65.
This'll be great for low cost and quick experimentation for students.
@mathyourlife d'oh, I just pre-ordered one but I forgot to ask for the discount. Glad to hear they look good - I'm hoping having a few of them will help the team with training new students.
@mathyourlife We're trying python for a simple summer bot build. We're not quite there yet. I def prefer the python code, but don't have us fully set up for linting in VSCode and code testing, so the debugging is crude. I'm hopeful we can transition with new programmers for 2025 or 2026.

@Rowley I ordered one for myself as well at full price so I can have one to play with. If it continues to work out I'll check with the team about ordering more. I'm thinking this could be a path to transition from Java to Python over the next year for the frc bot (assuming the team is on board with the change).
