See, this is why I love to-do lists: at the beginning of the week, this list was mostly red:

We had a very nice time yesterday at the Matelys laboratory doing impededance tube measurements of atypical materials, including some interesting stuff with hay.

There is literally no reason for me to be all "surprised Pikachu" when I have to return to fundamentals of geometry, and yet here I am, feverishly writing "SOHCAHTOA" under my breath while double checking the mental math.

I don’t care if it’s silly, I’m interpreting this photo post as a birthday wish from the whole scientific community 🥳

& a more meaningful congrats to @matt_with_ears 🎉

One of the cooler things I've been getting up to is measurements of materials that were present or would have been present inside the cathedral throughout its history. This photo is from a trip I took recently to the LNE - Trappes, who were kind enough to loan us their reverberation chamber for Sabine measurements of some unusual materials.

What kind of research does it take to create & maintain a museum of sounds? Check out the now-public Museum of Portable Sound Group Library on Zotero, where we've indexed over 1,500 of the sources we've gathered over the past seven years:
