@stsmith
I stopped reading after one woman in Florida. This seems to be cherry picked hyper local stories, about one crime in Chicago, one weirdo in Florida, etc., rather than trends as the title indicates.
In other news, looking at trends, this is the best decade ever...

Interesting how one's perspective and how things are framed make it seem like the best of times or the worst of times
I must respectfully abide by this naughty list. Like the saying goes, "Just when you make something fool-proof the world goes and makes a better fool."
I will concede the standard of living is MUCH improved over that of a 16th century serf's... And cholera... We seem to have eliminated cholera by and large. And the Black Death is all but forgotten (bubonic plague, not Whoopie Goldberg btw.)
So there are some bright spots at least...
@SecondJon I agree with your assessment. Crime is large cities like Chicago and NYC is at pretty all time lows. The ACLU is .. eh ..doing some questionable things in a lot of regards these days. That's a longer discussion. Also why is a joke a comedian says taken serious now. Also that flag burner, threatened people at the bar and was super crazy. He probably should have gotten 6~8 months, but still.
I agree, this article is just a dumb list, the extreme news of the year. @stsmith
