2023 Call For SfG Awards Nominations! :ablobcatbongo:

Deadline is 5:00 pm ET on July 12, 2023

All details on the eligibility criteria and application process on the link: glycobiology.org/2023-call-for

Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are essential components of the extracellular matrix, key players in countless cellular functions in health and disease. Yet, the biological roles of GAGs are too often still a mystery, due to their inherent disorder and variable sulfation patterns.

In this review out now in JACS Au ⬇️ we discuss the methods for GAGs discovery available today and present perspectives for future developments with very exciting prospects 1/2 🧵

Me when someone conveniently ignores glycosylation when discussing their favorite (glyco)protein #Glycotime

A very interesting article on the development of a protein nanopore approach for the characterisation of glycosaminoglycans nature.com/articles/s41467-022

Superb structural glycobiology from Joel Bloch with Ethan Goddard-Borger & Kaspar Locher who solved the structure of tryptophan C-mannosyltransferase ! congratulations

Welcome to all the new 🐘 users and #glycotime enthusiasts 🥳 🤩

Just a reminder that this site works a bit differently: to ensure your audience/friends see your posts, don't forget #hashtags 👍

You can pin your fav hashtag to the 🐘 browser deck view (e.g. I have #glycotime always on) which makes it easy peasy for all of us to follow each other's update without algorithms pushing content.

Enjoy this great ❤️ 🐘 community :ablobcatrave:

Great piece by the very talented
Claire O'Connell out on The Irish Times @irishtimes celebrating the #ChemNobel to #ClickChemistry and #BioOrthogonalChemistry with some enthusiastic feedback from me and Andrew Kellet

@bertozzi I hope you'll like it 😊👏👏👏

Ana recently gave a brilliant overview of her fantastic work at the @SfG Annual Meeting 👍 🤩

Imh this is a landmark paper for our understanding of protein N-glycosylation at the molecular level #glycotime

@iainwilson starting session 11 at #SfG2022 with some of the most interesting glycoscience there is, a field that he pioneers with Katharina Paschinger and their teams, glycophilogeny of invertebrates 🤩🐛 🐜 #glycotime

Our next session 11 titled "IGO Guest Session, Diversity of Pathways and Structures" is hosted by Adnan Halim and @iainwilson and featured keynotes from Iain Wilson, Stephen Withers, Adnan Halim and Tamao Endo. Short poster talks from Kaspar Locher, Yohei Tsukamoto and Julian Ugonotti

Tune in for Day #4 of the starting with Session 10 at 10 am EST (3 pm GMT) on Novel Tools and Approaches chaired by Elisa Fadda and featuring talks from Kiyoko Aoki-Kinoshita @kiyoko, Sander van Kasteren, John Klassen and Daniel Bojar, followed by short poster talks by Kayla Bastian, Jim Prestegard and Nick Riley @riley_nm1

Jen Kohler giving a fabulous talk at #SfG2022 now and more evidence on the key role of fucose 🔺 in cholera toxin infection #glycotime #fucose

Fantastic talk by Katherina Ribbeck in the Session 8: Chemical biology and structure-function studies on how mucins O-glycans can lock yeast in a host compatible (non-pathogenic) form 👏 👏

Fantastic session with 2022 Awardee Carolyn @bertozzi at @SfG2022 led by Jennifer Kohler, Stacy Malaker, Christina Woo and Nick @riley_nm1 🤩 🤩 🎉

Great questions from the audience about the contribution of diversity in the lab as a catalyst for science and discovery, how to foster creativity, *glycoRNA* 😍 and lab culture.

Thank you so much Carolyn for your time and insight 🙏 We are all looking very much fwd to the Nobel Awards Day!

Countdown to Q&A meeting with Carolyn @bertozzi starting at 12 pm EST (4 minutes!!!) 🤩 🎉
