@SteelFolk Not really. I often avoid them eg Endeavour (prequel to Morse). I had zero interest in seeing how Morse got to be, plus don't generally like stuff set in the 50s/60s.

It was invented by other people to fill a gap left by Colin Dexter's original creation, Morse, (which started as books ofc) having come to an end. And Lewis, the thing they spun off from a genuine Dexter character, nearing its end too. So basically a way for the TV people to make money. If the original author wants to try to write a prequel I don't mind, though I may still avoid.
