A series of my favourite artworks of mine. These were painted digitally and inspired by shots from:
- the Art of Eliza;
- The gorgeous freely available shots from Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park's Flickr pages.
Credits for each park and photographer in the alt text of each shot.
When it came time to reckon with social media’s failings, nobody ran to the “web3” platforms. Nobody asked “can I get paid per message”? Nobody asked about the blockchain. The community of people who’ve been quietly doing this work for years (decades!) ended up being the ones who welcomed everyone over, as always.

Boosted by Twitter drama, Mastodon reaches 1 million active monthly users
Still updating geographers on Mastodon list, which is growing steadily https://progcity.maynoothuniversity.ie/2022/11/mastodon-geographers/ These entries are also being added to codeberg list (with slight delay) where you can bulk follow folks https://lejun.codeberg.page/Mastodon-Geography/ If you want to be added let me know details. I'm not adding folks where the account is effectively anonymous #geography #geographers

Can I ask a favour?
I'm really grateful to be recommended as a follow, but can you also mention the website (https://fedi.tips) when you do so?
At the moment getting a lot of questions which are answered on the site, and it's difficult to keep up with every question. I'm happy to keep answering, but also afraid I'll miss someone's question.
If they know about the site from the beginning, they will have a chance of finding the answers themselves if I do miss their question.
Thanks 🙏
Everyone else: #Mastodon is really complex and has a lot of questions around who can see your DMs and what instance should you join and how do you find people and why toot instead of tweet and how do we monetise it and...
You know the films where the character wakes up in a strange place with amnesia?
Finding your way around Mastodon feels a bit like that.
Everything is new, but somewhat familiar. Most people are unknown, but you also find some old acquaintances. There's stuff to learn and figure out, there's exploring to be done!
Are you thinking of switching servers?
I moved from .social (great, but enormous!) to the friendly waters of .ie (highly recommended, people here are lovely). If you've just set up an account, though, it can feel mystifying.
I wish I'd found this *enormously* useful post by @djnavarro first. See this part on migrating to a new instance:
