The officials who represent Maryland’s three westernmost counties in the General Assembly have asked if their counties can join West Virginia.

IIRC, the US Constitution specifies that the several states are not allowed to take territory from one another, nor cede it.

@ValuedCustomer The Constitution is a piece of paper with words on it. The state of WV is is violation of that very article. None of the 13 original states shall be dismembered. But Lincoln needed the elector votes in '64 and like most presidents before and after he ignored the Constitution. In 1775 the 13 colonies decided to secede from the British Empire. It was illegal but they did it anyway.

You're not wrong, but the point I'm making is that two lefts don't make a right. Either go the full three lefts, or color inside the lines.
We're clearly facing a global political transfer of power from states (as in countries or nations) to an unelected and essentially ineffable transnational cabal, the NWO in other words.
While words scribbled on paper aren't freedoms, principles requisite to securing freedoms inherent in free persons necessarily need to be agreed on by enough folks to impose their will in the face of malignant opposition, which the Constitution has heretofore been the best example of.
The Maryland counties aren't effecting an improved mechanism, but are deprecating what little means are extant.

@ValuedCustomer "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue." -Barry Goldwater. The Revolutionary's felt the same way. An organic rebellion that triggers large-scale disruption is something the command and control totalitarians fear more than anything. Many of the revolutionary's made the salient point that as long as the new country remained Christian it would remain free. It has not and it isn't. Every mongrel religion and cult is tolerated to its detriment.
The original 13 states were independent federal republics under the Articles of Confederation. The first Confederacy lasted eight years. The "founding fathers" did not like ppl being ungovernable so they met in Philly and wrote the first Patriot Act in secret behind closed doors and destroyed all notes taken during the day and then put out a piece of leftist propaganda called the "federalist papers." The Constitution created a King, a house of lords and a house of representatives to assuage the masses. A federal judiciary was created to finalize how the words on paper would be applied to rule the country.
Most of the 13 states joined this "republic" with conditions. Their state constitutions had clauses that would allow them to secede if necessary. (New Hampshire is in the process of doing this in reverse.) On Dec. 20, 1860, the union was dissolved when SC seceded. Ten other states followed based on the 9th and 10th amendments. Mr. Lincoln then proceeded to destroy the second confederacy and recreate an Empire. Pre Civil War the country was referred to as these United States, a voluntary federated republic. It became under Lincoln a State held together by bands of steel.

@ValuedCustomer The first Confederacy lasted eight yrs. The second lasted four. Out of the cauldron of murder, rape and theft Mr. Lincoln created an empire in his own image. States became mere provinces of that empire which is bigger and more powerful than any in history. Mr. Reagan, you were wrong. The evil empire is you.
member of the Serbian Black Hand military society, assassinated the Austro-Hungarian heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. Thus began the second 30yrs War that ended Western Civilization and made the world safe for communism by weakening any opposition.
And the US had been primed by FDR and his cadre of leftists. Cult Communist Party members were constantly working in the interests of the Soviet Union, and at the dictates of the Soviet Union, while lying to and manipulating their friends and co-workers about their motives. They misrepresented their political positions as independent radical opinions when in reality those positions were dictated from elsewhere.

@ValuedCustomer In 1954 Whittaker Chambers, an ex-member of the CPUSA turned informer who put Alger Hiss in jail, said the infiltration was so thorough that it was all over but the crying. The history books don't tell you that FDR was the first communist pres and the USSR fell because it was no longer needed as the West had moved so far left the differences had become insignificant. I would tell my Reagan worshiping acquaintances that and get uninvited from all the soirees. The woke crowd's insolence is just a reflection of their Boomer elders lack of savoir faire.
The voting rights act, the civil rights act and the 1964 immigration act finished the job.
"In the end, we are simply another speck in the earthly evolution of societies that come and go, evolve, and prosper. The Minoan’s were a wonderful example of what can be if history were on a linear timeline."
"History does not repeat itself. But it does rhyme."
What happens next is anyone's guess. But it will no be based on some words on a piece of paper. Applied force is the next phase. Act accordingly
Yours truly, a compassion-deprived, differently sensitized, unreconstructed, unregenerate, Southern melancholy hedonist.
