I disagree mightily that quoting is one of The Main Issues as to why things are terrible #there and not here. I think that for certain kinds of accounts — ESPECIALLY accounts that do outreach, quotes help because just boosting something may not give your readers the context they need. YMMV.
@War_Kittens I agree. I like quote retweeting. I like that I can add some context as to why I’m retweeting a thing, especially threads.
Having said that, I can live without it.
@randomlycee
I can, too as it definitely is abused. I just am trying to think of a way for me to address boosts, especially if I want to continue / get back to more science and medical outreach.
@War_Kittens boost, then toot to add context or expand or re-direct to a different audience? Is there a mastodon equivalent of lrt?
@War_Kittens Fully agree - the additional info provided in a QT makes it easier to understand threads on topics I may not be familiar/comfortable with. (Not saying topics should always be comfortable, but that seeking comfort often flies in the face of empathy and anything that challenges that tendency is good, even if unpleasant).
