So many layoffs lately, and many at prestigious companies. I suspect a lot of people were hired to support projected growth or big bets, and companies are focusing on getting their unit economics under control for the fraught macroeconomic environment.
@mempko I haven't thought much about war, other than its impact on supply chains+energy and therefore inflation. But that's a fair point.
I think it there will be winners and losers. The dot com bust discredited the entire Internet sector. This drawdown will hit the more speculative parts harder--all the buzzwordy spaces--but I think digital innovation in legacy sectors will still be hot and you're probably right about tailwinds for anything with national security connections.
@acjay Do you think it will be worse than the Dot Com era? My fear is it won't be because countries all over the world are preparing for war. Germany just increased their military budget. USA to some extent. This money will directly flow to tech.
