This article mentions several good news points regarding the planet and some victories we've achieved in the past:
-the hole in the ozone layer (something people talked about as a big problem when I was a child) is healing, due to a phasing out of the chlorofluorocarbons that caused it.
-DDT, a big problem in the past, was banned and as a result the Bald Eagle, something that was almost extinct when I was a child, recovered and is no longer endangered.
-Acid rain, something that was looking like a problem that would keep getting worse when I was a child, is now on the decline due to regulations to reduce sulfur emissions.
-Solar and wind is now the cheapest source of electricity, and as a result, the switch to them is happening.
-2023 is expected to be the peak year in history for carbon emissions, with a reduction from now on. Although that's not good enough to limit global temperatures from increasing and prevent death and destruction, it is better than was predicted in the past.

As a result I can't agree with people who say that we're doomed no matter what or that there's nothing we can do. It's not all-or-nothing. Stopping the use of fossil fuels, by both individuals and entities, still has great value by accelerating the drop in emissions and limiting the temperature increase, which saves lives.
