@eqyo This is definitely a difficult thing to come to grips with. For me, it helps to separate cultural components from belief/faith components. For example, I enjoy Christmas with family as a cultural thing, but don't buy into the beliefs that go along with a full-blown embrace of Christianity.
For centuries people have deliberately tangled up morality and decency with religion, asserting that you need to be religious to be a decent person. This is not at all true. I think that given a little time and a critical mind, people can often start to pick apart all these threads for themselves.

I'm quite heavily involved in my local church which makes it hard for me to separate things in that way. Basically my problem is that I like my church but it's also where I'm surrounded by true believers who think I am also a true believer.
