It’s in the Bronze age where we see an increase in the enclosure of small fields and effort made to increase soil fertility. Soils were often poor to begin with, or becoming depleted by overuse, so increasing soil depth, by importing soil from elsewhere, or improving the soil quality, by adding manure and other organic matter, became common.

On 4 December, at 15:19 UTC, a strong #pyroclastic flow along the Sciara del Fuoco on #Stromboli #volcano reached the sea and generated a moderate #tsunami, hopefully not causing damage (according to INGV). Tide gauge in Ginestra recorded it with a delay of only a few minutes, and crest to crest amplitude of ~60cm.

Stromboli is an Italian very active volcano from the Aeolian islands in the Tyrrhenian sea (Mediterranean). Its activity, and more particularly hazards due to the pyroclastic flows, are monitored by INGV.

Foolish me. I spent the weekend worrying about the effects of large language models on our educational mission.

Apparently it take a true visionary like billionaire venture capitalist, post.news backer, and Musk-stan Marc Andreessen to see that the real problem in the AI space is that these academic fields like AI Ethics and AI Safety are trying to CENSOR perfectly innocent algorithms that are simply minding their own business and preserving or exacerbating societal injustices.

This is such a cool fact that I had to share. Tonga's Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption was huge. So loud it was heard in Alaska. The shock waves in the caused ripples that traversed the Earth numerous times. This happened with Krakatau's 1883 eruption. Anyway, a good read.
