Most people figure when they get to their 60s, it’s time to slow down, take stock, and hit cruise control.
That’s not what I did.
I came out of the closet, figured out this social media thing, and then made my Broadway debut in my 70s. Now I’m taking on London in my 80s!

To see me live and on stage in the West End, get tickets before they’re gone! Allegiancemusical.com

TIL: There is a cursed color in the Kodak ProPhoto RGB color space which, when converted to sRGB using pre-August-2020-Security-Update Android's image conversion routines, causes an integer overflow and a crash due to a rounding error. Some dude accidentally created an image (flickr.com/photos/gaurav_agraw) which contains the cursed color on a single pixel. In 2020 if you set this image as your desktop on a Google or Samsung device, the device would brick & lose all onboard data youtube.com/watch?v=iXKvwPjCGn

If you live in this area and felt shaking from this #earthquake be prepared to feel aftershocks. Aftershocks are normal and expected after an earthquake of this size. In fact, there have already been 20+ aftershocks of M2.5+. If you feel shaking - drop, cover and hold on until all shaking has stopped.

PSA: aftershocks are just smaller earthquakes that occur after a larger quake.

A court in Germany on Tuesday convicted a 97-year-old woman of being an accessory to murder in over 10,000 cases for her role as a secretary to the commandant of the German Nazi concentration camp Stutthof during World War II.

Irmgard Furchner was accused of being part of the apparatus that helped the camp function. The Itzehoe state court in northern Germany gave her a two-year suspended sentence.

The area where this quake occurred is quite active. These images from the IRIS Earthquake Browser show #earthquakes of M4+, M5+, M6+ and M7+.

This is a fascinating area because it’s where the Pacific, North American & Juan de Fuca Plates meet. In this region the right-lateral San Andreas fault veers offshore into the Mendocino Fracture Zone and to the north the Cascadia subduction zone begins.

Got woken up by the California shake alert at 230 AM last night. We're a mountain range away from the epicenter, so felt nothing. But it's nice to know there's a warning that will wake us ahead of a quake. I'm not good when I wake, but this made me very alert. 😂 😮

#NoNaturalDisasters applies to earthquakes as well as climate hazards. In almost all temblors, it's buildings that kill people, not the shaking itself. I'll never forget walking around Istanbul with an engineer pointing out apartment buildings he called "rubble in waiting." bit.ly/istanquake #disasterrisk #resilience

You’ll be unsurprised to learn that the incident with the supposed Musk stalker appears to have nothing to do with the jet tracking account. It occurred 26 miles from the airport, and a full day after ElonJet placed the plane in Los Angeles. washingtonpost.com/technology/

Deep breath..... Going all in with a full intro because I've seen the cool kids do it.

I'm a doctor of wine. With a floppy hat to prove it.

Laboratory nomad for over 12 years bouncing around the globe for #TB, outbreaks or general labrat stuff.

When not in a lab, I'm travelling. Probably hiking or hitching somewhere or drinking tea; maybe gin.

Otherwise I'm stitching swears or lampshades or something.

19 December 1941 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Marta Weisz, was born in Sárköz. During the war, she lived in Szatmárnémeti.

On 31 May 1944, she was murdered in a gas chamber of Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

Marta was the daughter of Bandi (fate unknown) and Klari. She had an elder brother Robert. Klari & the children were most probably murdered in a gas chamber together.
