It's been a minute since I posted a waterfall photo!

This shot was taken in 2018 at Tanyard Creek Falls in Bella Vista, Arkansas, USA. Not hard to see why this waterfall is in my top 5 in the state: photogenic and easy to access by a mostly paved and well-established trail.

A hidden #Waterfall near #Seljalandsfoss, #Iceland. To shoot the photo we had to wade through a river with our equipment. Arrived at the waterfall quite difficult conditions were waiting for us. The narrow gorge was filled with spray. So excuse the water splashes on the lens ;-).

I didn’t really have the time for this but I couldn’t resist a 15 minute walk into the woods to enjoy the newfallen snow. It will be dark when I get home. To be the first to place your footprints in new snow is a privilege that comes with a responsibility to appreciate it!

Just a friendly reminder to fellow academics that, while we are all used to be constantly critical in our assessments, it is still perfectly acceptable to also reach out to authors when we actually like their work, even if it is just to let them know.

If not done already, give it a try. The worst that can happen is that you provoke someone to smile and have a delightful moment.

Since you guys like this tree as much as I do, here it is in Summer, the gnarly trunk leading us up to a canopy of leaves that are shrouded in mist.

Is this a coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. The volcanoes are not directly connected, but might "feel" one another via stress effects. Mauna Loa's eruption could have allowed Kīlauea to "relax." That said, Kīlauea's eruption was already pretty tenuous, occurring at very low rates.

On 13 April 1944, he was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz in a group of 1,500 Jews. On 16 April 1944, he was murdered in a gas chamber together with his mom Frida and father Henri.

He was 4 months old.
