Am I the only one who finds the "transition" to Mastodon somewhat uphill? I want to subscribe to relevant scientists and hear about their work, papers, upcoming conferences and what else happens in the field. But it seems that I just get a random mix of all kinds of irrelevant posts. Perhaps there are not yet enough people on the platform for it to work?
@ditlevbrodersen This early, some fields have moved significantly (#neuroscience being one of them), others I'm not so sure. One way to discover people in your field is via hashtags: click on them, or even follow hashtags. And use hashtags when writing posts to make them discoverable. I've been using #vEM for volume electron microscopy, and #science or #academia when posting job ads or announcements. And surely #cryoEM exists (yes: shows 25 tagged posts per week at the moment).
