Start by checking out jetpens.com recommendations for your style and needs. I swear by Lamy's because they're indestructible, write beautifully, and are (relatively) cheap. Next level up is Pelikan and Namiki. Avoid Mont Blanc. I own a few Waterman's also but Lamy's ... well I must own at least two dozen...
