Niceness is the set of rules us white people established and force on everyone else, allowing us to punish anyone not seen as "nice" (as in, not playing by our shitty rules).
Kindness is giving a damn about other people and acting accordingly; kindness is sometimes speaking out but also sometimes shutting up. Kindness does not force others to submit to a set of arbitrary rules that favor white people.
I don't want a nice #Mastodon, I'd like a kind one.
