So, I block without comment people who ask that I CW my insect photos. It’s not done with malice, but to save people who are sensitive to such things any trouble going forward, as insect photos are most of my activity here.
Also, as an entomologist, I’m not going to normalize the idea that one of our planet’s most important life forms should be feared and hidden. I tag my photos #Insects and hope those who need to make use of Mastodon’s excellent filtering capabilities.
@alexwild "I'm not CWing this because it should not be hidden" is a profoundly ableist stance. CW isn't a way to hide content but to let people prepare themselves for seeing it (or choose not to see it, which is what filters do too but with less granularity).
