It's so weid how when we look back at the satanic panic i's like "Oh god, look at these clueless people who honestly believed that D&D and Metal was part of a wider organized EVIL spreading through society".
And yet, you can see the exact same fears and movements today, just with different buzzwords.
@auldlangsin every time somebody says "people aren't that stupid anymore" the harsh truth is that yes. Yes they are. It's just something else they're that stupid about now.
@papierundtinte Exactly! And every time someone says "Well, maybe THOSE people are stupid, but WE aren't" the truth is that yes, we are. It's just something else (and, if we are lucky, less consequential) we are stupid about.
@auldlangsin and it's often LGBTQ people who are being targeted by these moral panics :(
