You write that Gary Glitter was "convicted for attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13."
Child sexual abuse is committed by a diverse group of offenders. Systematically pointing only to paedophiles is not only wrong, it thwarts the prevention of child sexual abuse.
You can do much better BBC. Check out https://www.lucyfaithfull.org.uk/ to see how an organisation for the prevention of child sexual abuse, avoids using words like "paedophile". You too can be part of the solution. Just select your words more carefully.
Try harder BBC, it's worth it.
