if your professor you should plan on where you are putting your new equipment before you purchase it and if you don't have room for it maybe you need to reevaluate whether you can actually do that project or you need to get rid of an older piece of equipment that you're not using to make room for it.

there are good safety reasons we're not going to let you set up equipment in the back hallway outside of the lab
