@sanjaysrivastava Now do it with your archived email.
Sometimes it's immediately obvious. They've clearly and unequivocally improved the piece.
Other times, I don't see why they've done what they did.
Now there are two possibilities:
1) they are idiots who happened to rise to the top of their profession by pure hapless chance.
2) they know exactly what they are doing, whereas, coming from inside my field and having written the words myself, I'm too enamored of them.
This is why I accept changes from professional editors 99% of the time.
@ct_bergstrom I remember some professional writer talking about how you have to look at your favorite sentences in particular. Often these have odd phrasing, don't fit into the flow of the whole thing, or really aren't as cool as you think, but you have grown really attached them. I kept an eye on this phenomenon and I do it and my colleagues do it in their writing. When doing edits it's usually the first thing to go and still people try to bring it back ;-)
@sheldonrampton The learning process for me has been to discern when I disagree with their edits because I think they are wrong, versus when I disagree with their edits because they are theirs instead of mine.
Porting over my one hit tweet.
If a condenser wore pants, would it:
wear them like this ⬇️... or like this.⬇️
@derralle Danke für die Info. Sorry, den Link hatte ich nicht gesehen.

First day on Mastodon. Curious to see, if critical mass is reached and the exodus will happen. It never worked with people moving away from whatsapp... #chemtwitter #chemtoots
