I’m off. For the first time this year I’m properly off for a whole week, Saturday till Monday. It feels fabulous. I’m probably going to be ill, because my body can just give up for a week finally. The folk custom year so far in West Cornwall. Traditions endure and change with each generation down here, some seemingly more precarious than others. Wassailing, The May Horns, The Feast of St.John’s Eve & Crying the Neck are always enjoyable. A few other events I missed but Montol on midwinter will be the one most in Penzance will be looking forward for. There’s many more customs about of which I will one day I will also document. #folklore #cornwall

#niceness vs #kindness:

Niceness is the set of rules us white people established and force on everyone else, allowing us to punish anyone not seen as "nice" (as in, not playing by our shitty rules).

Kindness is giving a damn about other people and acting accordingly; kindness is sometimes speaking out but also sometimes shutting up. Kindness does not force others to submit to a set of arbitrary rules that favor white people.

I don't want a nice #Mastodon, I'd like a kind one.

Do you keep hearing about machine learning taking over the world "soon anytime now"?

This #deviantart entry of mine from 2009 has been labelled, presumably automatically, as "mature content". I kind of see why–not quite an adversarial attack, but yes quite the failure of excessive generalization.

It's a most innocent photograph: that of my favourite lunch, back from when I was at INI Zurich: mozzarella with cherry tomatoes, olive oil, salt, and ... bread.

It vindicates everything I have said on Twitter for the last 6 years. Brexit will never be a success nor replace UK EU membership with something better. Suspect this Remain lead will increase over time.
