@bullmousse yeah, maybe that was an outlier. still to a big part (together with people here in the fediverse) saved my sanity during the totalitarian covid times here in germany. i'm kind of morally indebted for that ;)

The martyr made history podcast made a LONG series about the history of palestine and israel up to 1948 (https://www.martyrmade.com/featured-podcasts/fear-loathing-in-the-new-jerusalem), but he recently also made one that's about the 1950s until the lebanon war in the 1980s. I can recommend it, everything is much worse than one can even imagine.

One thing that stood out to me was that plane hijackings were a semi-regular occurence, but nobody seems to have tried to get 'airport security' going, like we have now. I guess most users here are too young to remember flying before 9/11, but it was essentially like going to a train station.
