terminal is great because you can pipe things around doing endless combinations.
in "TUI" land you have the drawbacks of terminal AND of GUI.
the problem isn't that GUI is worse, the problem is that the current GUI software is badly designed in 95% in cases. it seems that it's made with the absolute most moronic user in mind. specialty software like graphic editing or CAD are an exemption to this as the users have demands on functionality.
plan9 had good ideas how to combine GUI and terminal piping, but unfortunately got stuck at "research OS".
@icedquinn honestly wasn't bad. i'm annoyed that with unixoid software it now either is glossy UI shit that barely works or some functional terminal software like it's the 80s.
