Hey Fediverse! I need your help.
I met a very sweet old man named Tom. He used to work for IBM. He's probably 75 years old or so.
He has a floppy disk that allegedly contains documents his father wrote.
He wants me to try to copy it.
My floppy drive isn't reading it.
I want some suggestions on next steps on how to proceed. I recognize that the disk is probably shot, but I really want to give it the old college try.

@bonifartius A century ago academics were tasked to argue for/against any position on any subject, then to switch side and continue. To fully understand how to be able to hold multiple viewpoints in the head at the same time. people wishing misfortune upon me because i don't go along with the latest fad of "whats right".
people throwing lingo like "gaslighting", "whataboutism", etc. because they are too dense to acknowledge that people can have different opinions which can be valid at the same time.
soulless beings incapable of the thought that not everything is based in pure logics (which they in all likelihood never learned to use properly anyway). having a solid set of moral foundations is considered a flaw by these philosophical zombies.

It's simply unbelievable just *how* bad Nvidia's Linux support is 🤦
Replaced a GTX 1060 with the cheapest and (on paper) less capable AMD card I managed to get, and it's just staggering how smooth and glitch-free everything feels now.
- Desktop: renders at roughly four times the fps
- Suspend/resume issues: gone
- Rendering glitches: disappeared
- DisplayPort on boot-up: works now
- FreeSync at 120hz: yup
- Linux console: properly scaled fonts
It's like I upgraded from a 10 year old machine 😂
interesting that many people who were depressed are turning into better-than-you types if not depressed anymore.
