@robdaemon @humanetech @natecull @theruran The browser is just a weird VM with too much builtin layouting concepts.
HTML Canvas is just a framebuffer, WASM is just binaries, websockets are sockets.
On the plus side: Building a UI in HTML gives you immutable messages between UI and backend, you can run your frontend elsewhere (like with the X Window System), code is sandboxed, hardware can be accessed when permitted by the user.
Next step: Build a browser in your browser.

I sexually Identify as a wave function that describes the quantum state of the system. Ever since I was a boy, I dreamed of combining the wave and particle theories of matter, and obtaining a complex-valued probability amplitude. People say to me that a person being both a particle and a wave is Impossible and I’m fucking retarded but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a physicist install additional electrons, high energy photons, and relativistic mechanics on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Shrodonger” and respect my right to randomly decay and tunnel through objects. If you can’t accept me you’re a classical physicist and need to check your quantum privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.

I originally came here because maly.io didn't block other servers. I kept this alt, and when it went down, moved my alt to SPC.
When maly.io returned under new management, they started blocking instances but kept "We federate with every instance out there." in /about/more. Of the five servers blocked, FSE is one. I disagree with instance-blocking: https://blog.freespeechextremist.com/blog/what-is-freedom-of-speech.html .
There are six rules here, and I've broken none of them until now: only the last rule, "Have fun." This is depressing.

i noticed that one favorite way of mainstream lefties to deal with discussions they don't win - i venture the guess that they feel cognitive dissonance they want to resolve by this - is "infantilization" of people who have a different opinion. for example "here, have a cookie", "sweetie...", etc.
it's really food for thought. the last thing they are left to use as insult (as everything else is off limits by now) is what should be cherished highly.
