one example is taking footage from an arrest and selectively cutting it to look like someone is being thrown from a car and slammed on the ground, and then cutting the audio track out so you can't hear everyone talking.

it becomes B-roll that looks like cops just bodyslammed an innocent person for no reason.

(the footage might actually be the perp asking to be let out of the car.)

😮The bet of the governement is clearly:

1/ that the courageous people striking at tremendous personal cost, and otherwise blocking infrastructure will get exhausted

2/ that brutal repression will contribute to that objective, to terrorize dissent and discourage support

3/ that lapdogging-media will open a "new sequence" of spin on "the horrible anti-democratic violence of people burning stuff and blocking the country" to erode support from general population.

@bonifartius @Awoo @Hyolobrika i don't really think they needed deepfakes for any of this. they've been talking about it for a while now. it's just been going through testing phases around the world to see if they could get enough consent decrees to pull it off.

india's aadhar is a big beta test of widespread biometrics, britain and EU's web filters in through "but muh kids," in the USA they've had the worst time of it because our culture is in direct opposition to being controlled that way so they've had to spend a long time breaching firewalls explicitly erected to stop that exact kind of control, but they got it now with the whole big tech - homeland security fascism bit.

I like having the id in the name, mostly because I intend to write a script to go through and see how many videos I have that haven’t been deleted/censored/removed forever. I use something similar:

This gets rid of the id crap from the name, doesn't set the file time to the past, and automatically prefers best video and audio.
