@Misterm @bonifartius Micheal Pollan wrote once Do only eat what your great-grand-mother would deem food. Not a precise guidance bit very, very handy. This and eat less, mostly plants.
Think a while about it. Strawberries in February?
So simple. Way better and simpler than eat the bug XD

Medicine and science have long been easy to capture. Looking at old ads in which doctors are promoting cigarettes, we want to believe that these are artifacts from the civilization of an ancient evolutionary ancestor that had a smaller brain. In those days, throat doctors were promoting cigarettes, intellectual giants of statistics were defending tobacco companies.

If you look back just a few years, you can find doctors publishing clinical guidance advising *patients who are non-drinkers to start drinking* for the supposed cardiovascular benefits. It was easy to see that this wasn't merely lazy thinking, it was corruption stewed in industry sponsorship, conflicts of interest and poor quality science. There is a sort of collective amnesia resulting in a silence around how science and medicine could have been so embarrassingly wrong. The closer we look, the more clear it is that there are no cardiovascular benefits in drinking even a little alcohol.

From this perspective, it is much easier to believe how the institutions of science and medicine have collapsed in front of gender religion. When we look back at the insanity of hormonal and surgical interventions in physically healthy young people, we will certainly find that same amnesia when we ask how could this have happened.

the old grey boxy "productivity" style was peak UI and nobody can change my mind.

"material" design (and other new styles) is _so_ bad it isn't even funny. i'm convinced it was developed to actively make people dumb and enable dark patterns.

it really makes me happy that some older software projects are getting more development again, like claws-mail for example which just got a new releast :)

@Moon
Which is a bit weird given that those are usually the same people who claim that nuance is their superpower

nobody ever calls out the rhetorical sleight of hand 100% of media outlets going from "I don't like think CRT is good" to "you are ok with racism then" CRT people are nuts.
@knhy @Bunbun1984 @bot @miguu Well, you'd do it the way it was always done - by talking to your children and being a guiding/mentoring parent as you are supposed to. Throwing them into the deep end is retarded.
Everyone knows how to make kids, but no one knows how to be a parent anymore. This is important.

It's not normal to just shrug off mangled bodies, child pornography, and other filth. You are, normally, supposed to be repulsed and distrubed by it. Yet here we are, unaffected. This says a lot, and its consequences are visible at every level.
Staying naive and unjaded is not a bad thing. You just need to remove the wolf sitting in your pen.
@Leaflord like, how can i transfer my knowledge and wisdom and mental/spiritual vaccinations to my kids? walking through the wider internet landscape is like walking through a swamp of plague and filth, yet i don't get ill nor do i fear the pathogens which saturate the environment. i've been here my whole life, my metaphorical immune system treats it like child's play. but someone who hasn't spent 15-20 years online most days in every little nook and cranny wouldn't know what the fuck to do or how to handle it.

scrolling through the average internet feed once you stray off giant corporate networks be like:

>here's a bunch of lolicon
>casual explicit racism
>pictures of dismembered bodies from ukraine
>hardcore pornography
>some cats
>cute otter pictures
>a giant wall of emotes spelling out the n-word
>interracial gooner porn
>transgender shit
>a string of funny memes
>anti transgender shit
>extremist political posts
>cute anime girl pictures
>groypers
>wholesome post about bicycling
>more dismembered bodies from ukraine
>cunny cunny cunny
>some news article from germany

and you just sort of take it in stride and don't even *think* about it or pay attention to it. the average normie would lose their fucking mind and think of you as a freak for "living" in such a place or even being passively exposed to such content nonchalantly.

@Bunbun1984 @bot @miguu

Left? Right? Center?

I prefer to identify as "stop trivializing my life's experiences into your simplistic categories, you dehumanizing jerkoff." Where is that on your political spectrum?

@becassine @Wormwood Short men should sincerely buckle down and go full dwarf mode. I refuse to even pretend this is not objective truth. It solves so many problems. Worst case scenario you end up with shit beard genes and need to test boost for a while because puberty didn't happen correctly.
