@supernovae @jeff @ryanschultz One of the most indispensible security tools for end users is Tor. #Cloudflare is a malicious actor serving an attack on the Tor community. Without CF, the DoS on Tor users was limited to websites that proactively block Tor. CF has crippled Tor even in cases where the admin is Tor-unaware or ambivilant. That is, the attack on Tor is a /default/ behavior most admins are unaware of.

@supernovae @ryanschultz @jeff #Cloudflare /could/ have designed their service in such a way that it does not compromise the security of everyone else, but they opted not to. Why? Capitalism. The customer’s users are not CF’s customer, so the business model does not accommodate CF worrying about the security problems of the end user. Thus CF has no problem w/adding to the security problems of non-customers.

@supernovae @jeff @ryanschultz One man’s protection is another man’s threat. #Cloudflare doesn’t merely give security, it /shifts/ security so that one person gets a bit of security relief at no cost, while *thousands* then have to face the security threat & burden of a service-denying centralized MitM. What do you mean by “CSAM protection”? CF protects CSAM pushers. Is that what you are refering to?

When Mastodon instances "defederate" from other instances they disapprove of, that's not really much different from Twitter banning links to other social media sites. So if you bail from there to come here, you'll feel right at home.

I just stuck a headphone jack, of very expensive headphones that I was wearing at the time, into the power port instead of the headphone port of this laptop.

Nothing happened.
