It still misses the point...

An Ofqual spokesman said: “We speak regularly with exam boards about risks, including malpractice risks ... Sanctions for cheating are serious, including being disqualified from a qualification.”

= Let's pretend the world isn't changing and punish people for using everyday tools. (YES - some stuff needs to be remembered... but this is a small list of stuff compared to the skills/competencies people actually need to manage information).

A Director from Oak National Academy had a better contribution to the article: “We need to think about it [ChatGPT] because pupils are going to be aware of it, teachers are aware of it and I’m sure families will have been using it over the Christmas break.”

He said that ChatGPT could be used as an educational tool, but cautioned that teachers would “need to think carefully about how they apply it in classrooms. There are model biases, inaccuracies, ethical considerations we need to think about before allowing it to be used”.

This is a much better line of thinking than rallying against technology. This happens all the time a new technology emerges.

Yet - there is still much thought needed around how we respond to the #AI paradigm shift in #education. #LTHEchat #ChatGPT #loveLD #AcademicChatter

#AI & #MachineLearning are very much mainstream & increasingly ubiquitous.

These tools are part of the world that school and university leavers will join. They need to be prepared for this -- and businesses will want this as they continue to use & adopt such tools.
