The thing I keep thinking about the #bing #chatgpt integration is not if it's good or not. It seems like it's a perfectly meh solution currently.

What I feel like it more signifies is that _god can bleed_. Google has been totally unrivaled for years. But Bing comes out with one little AI integration, and people were enthusiastic about the opportunity for change.

Maybe it won't be Bing, but if Google continues to stagnate like this, then _someone_ is coming for them.

We only see the hype, not the numbers. I take the current slowdown re. to mean that Google is not seeing a meaningful drop in search volume. There doesn't seem to be the bleeding sense of urgency that was tangible in Google's Paris event two weeks ago. And I'm not surprised: the newly constrained does not appear to offer much more than, well, Bing.

@boris_steipe Oh I'm sure if there's a change in the status quo it's probably not coming this year, but maybe this decade. Bing & the current #openAI models probably aren't the right solution for "AI search", but maybe there's a place for that soon.

And maybe #Bard does end up working out and Google doesn't lose it's place on top. In that case, great! Then there was some meaningful innovation in the search space. But if it's not #google, it's going to be someone.
