I’ve been quietly following the #chatgpt advancements and reading statements like “I can create a piece of art, book, movie, fashion photo shoot, software app” in a day and all I can feel is how bleak the future is going to be if we put so much creative work away from humans.
I won’t feel the same reading a book from an AI than I would from a great author. But will we ever have great authors again?

The "great authors" of the future will be those that are able to make their experience resonate with their reader.

But that was equally true of the great authors of the past.

It is an open question whether such resonance requires that the author _have_ human experience. Or whether it is sufficient to learn from human experience. (From all of it.)
