@minglesalt @bruhprivacy@mastodon.social @session I never heard of it before. Maybe I'll try it in the future.

And imo, if you want to talk to strangers you can use telegram private chats. Because I think most strangers don't really know about privacy on the internet and not interested to using any kind of privacy focused app, moreover dapps.

I use session and signal just to talk with my friends and my family.

@natalie yes, as long your admin or owner of the instance don't get blocked by other instances or they block other instances. You still can talk like usual, like we're doing now.

You can also talk with users on another federated social platform like @pixelfed @peertube and so on.

@natalie That's the advantage of the fediverse, even though you're still on the same platform which is right now Mastodon, but you sign up at different instance, you can get features that other instances don't have, and vice versa

For example this account on qoto.org, has advantage to share toot with more than 65k characters meanwhile on default instance like mastodon.social you can only share your toot with 500 limit characters.

But, either mastodon.social and qoto.org are still Mastodon.

@natalie

nya.social/ ? I think its also a Mastodon but with different instance.

Just like me, I have mastodon accounts on 2 different instances.
On mastodon.social
And qoto.org

And what is android's police?

@natalie @Mastodon @bruhprivacy@mastodon.social

Well, according to androidpolice.com/what-is-mast

"Mastodon is an open-source microblogging alternative to Twitter. Rather than a centralized platform, Mastodon consists of independent, user-managed servers. Users are based on one server but can interact freely with others.

Mastodon shares quite a lot of similarities with Twitter. You can tag users, share media, and follow other accounts. The two main differences between both platforms are the independent servers and the chronological feed of Mastodon."

In short, just like any other fediverse. Mastodon is a decentralized twitter alternative. Like pixelfed, a decentralized instagram alternative.

@bruhprivacy@mastodon.social According to Wikipedia
Metadata is "data that provides information about other data", but not the content of the data, such as the text of a message or the image itself.

Which means, for easy example. If you take a picture from your device. There will be some informations inside that image called EXIF(Exchangeable image file format), such as your location, your model device, your timestamp and so on.

These kind of informations are also can threatening your privacy on internet. Especially if you are a journalist or activist who is taking refuge from threats.

How so?
