A photo of an element of Truro cathedral I took before work earlier this week. No reason, just felt like it.

Today I have been mostly rescuing snails

A random paddle in my photos to remember that it was sunny and even quite warm once upon a time. This was taken in July last year. (The day after my birthday purely by chance). I do NOT enjoy Winter. I am a shallow, summer person.

Tried two different places this week for my and loved both. This one was the new Italian deli and cafe. Truro is so well served with good places to eat and it just keeps getting better.

Pictures show an olive tree growing in a huge pot, a top down view of my lunch (pizza) and a close-up of the mosaic tabletop.

A good lunch out is my main self-care in a stupidly stressful and difficult (impossible!) job, so it's really important to me and in an ideal world I'd eat lunch out every day. A good week is when my job is still stupid but I get five good lunches. Came close this week!

When your window paints your wall orange you know something special is going on out there...

As part of my continued efforts to look after myself properly when working and despite a) it being the last day of attendance before Christmas for me and b) having a shedload of stuff to get done so everyone got the medication they needed and c) having not covered myself in gourmet glory yesterday after chips for lunch and toast for tea, today I went back to the tapas restaurant round the corner and had a truly lovely lunch. Even if I did have to rush a bit. Also, I really like their plates.

Never get bored by the facade of Truro Cathedral, and love that the simplest route through to their cafe is just to walk though the church... such a beautiful building inside and out.

Couldn't untangle the curtain of twinkly lights in time for the village Christmas lights switch on last night, so threw the tree lights (no tree) at the window to join in. Not the most elegant display. Coming back down today.

*picture shows green string of small white lights draped over a double-casement window, dark harbour with blurry coloured lights beyond.

Finally got to the car wash today. Well, I was just down the road paying for four new tyres (wince) so springing for a hand wash on top didn't seem so bad.

One of the aspects of my new job that I am enjoying immensely, is working so close to the Cathedral. Truro Cathedral is a beautiful building in lovely if rather tiny grounds, with many appealing aspects. The inside is also beautiful (and there's a route through to the cafรฉ, so that's nice!)

*pictures:
1. View of the main spires above a brutal brick commercial building. Love the contrast.
2. View along a tree and shrub lined path to the Cathedral beyond the green. Wall on right is also clad with climbing greenery.
3. Interior of the Cathedral featuring the ornately carved choir stalls and stone arches with stained glass window in centre. Foreground has drums and red petals prominently - photo taken around Remembrance weekend.

I was awake before the alarm again and I'm not even going into store today (supposed to be day off but Teams meeting - at least it will be in my kitchen for me!) but can't complain too much with this bonus.

*picture shows orange clouds above rising sun in centre frame with tiny lighthouse just visible on left. Yacht mast sticks up on the right with hillside beyond. Dark area at front is the harbour.

Bin day in my village means you'd better not be in a hurry to get up that hill.

*picture shows refuse collection lorry and team on hill between white house on left and large grey house with lots of windows in centre. On slope on the right is one car pulled into a driveway to get out of the way (brake lights glowing) and a second car waiting to follow the dustcart.

Will need to go back in to eat lunch but for a few minutes...

*picture shows Perranporth beach with dog walkers middle-ground and blue skies with white cloud above.

Politics, women's rights and abortion

Well done Vermont!

*screen shot shows headline proclaiming "Vermont votes to become first US state to protect abortion rights in constitution"

Good morning. It's a bit grey here in Cornwall, UK, but a freshly ground and brewed coffee always helps, right? Especially if you bring it back to bed.

*picture shows full coffee cup in foreground out of focus with boats in the harbour beyond and houses on the hill behind that.
