I am hoping that this new platform will help me decide whether to vote for Donald Trump or Joe Biden for President. I look forward to spirited debates in the months ahead.

Many people asked how Ukrainians in the occupation managed to save the flags. Here's how. They were keeping them cause they *had no doubt* Ukrainian Armed Forces will be back to release them. Our nation is undefeatable

I wonder when, if ever, we will as a society start to truly grapple with the death toll of the pandemic.

With our individual and collective roles in the spread.

With omicron appearing milder in no small part because the most vulnerable people have already died.

With the economic impact of the sudden death of workers and grandparents providing childcare.

Most of all I wonder if we will be able to properly grieve.

My quick #introduction: I'm Molly White (she/her) and I'm a software engineer who's been doing a lot more research and writing lately than software engineering.

I research and write about the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry with a critical perspective, and I run web3isgoinggreat.com/ (also on fedi at @web3isgreat). I also write newsletter.mollywhite.net/.

When I am writing software, it's mostly on that website, or various Python tools to help me with analysis of hacks/etc.

Who Is “Web3” For?

> Like radioactivity, blockchain can be a useful tool in solving certain kinds of problems. Like dental hygiene, the decentralization of global communication platforms is an important problem, but not necessarily the right application for the instrument. Like Doromad Radioactive Toothpaste, web3 has little to do with solving the stated problem, and everything to do with profiting off of a buzzword, resulting in more harm than good in the process.

🇺🇦 🇪🇺 Incredible scenes on social media of Kherson residents raising Ukrainian and EU flags in the city as they wait for Ukraine’s military to enter following Russia’s humiliating retreat.

Ukrainian military has not arrived yet, but the locals are already gathering to welcome them in the center of Kherson

@hankgreen FWIW I just don't cross post. I post here what makes more sense here and there what makes sense there. And some thing, manually, on both. The spaces are different enough that it feels more sensible that way.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.
It is an organised form of structured contestation in lieu of violence. So go out there and contest.

- Who owns the servers? Who set up new ones?

- How vulnerable are they to penetration? Can we compromise? Set up our own? Find/recruit agents to get trusted access?

- In particular, are there any new, well intentioned but less savvy users we should target (for everyone finding out “wow it’s easy to host!,” how good is your network security? What else do you have on the computer you’re using as a server? What else in on that local network?)

It’s also easy to account spoof: I’m @PeteStrzok, but that doesn’t prevent someone from creating (on existing or new severs they make) @petestrzok@mastadan.social, @petestrzok@mstdn.social, etc.

Make sure you verify the account you’re following is in fact the person you think it is. An old article (would welcome an updated version):
