Sadly, they do matter - and we'd be well advised to keep track of them.

I won't argue, but in my 70 years on this planet I've learned that the 'marginalized' ones tend to end up invisible.
We can't let that happen.

It simply means that the consensus group has judged the attitudes or opinions as irrelevant to the main cultural coversationsn. In example such as racism, sexism. Homophobia, I consider it a good thing that there attitudes have been marginalized. .
