after some searching around, and extrapolating from CDC cumulative *reported* covid death data, i can tell you that at minimum, 266,000 americans died of #covid in 2022. (down from 473,000 in 2021 and 351,000 in 2020.)

cdc reports an average of 34,200 annual flu deaths over the last decade.

just to be clear, the year the covid pandemic "ended" covid also killed 7-8 times as many americans as the flu usually does

had dinner with a few friends and their kids last night, bringing together people from 4 different public schools and daycare centers in a small house with no ventilation or air filtration. i was the only one in a mask and no one was interested in chatting about why i would be wearing one. people just ignore me at this point, and i think take pity on my "paranoia." i continue to feel a mixture of confusion, hurt, anger, and frustration about dealing with covid

@seachanger we attended a different church yesterday (friends invited us, they have good music). Except for one elderly lady, we were the only ones wearing masks. No one seemed to mind or react, but it was odd nevertheless.
