There's been some confusion on the context of the June #Greenland Ice Sheet melt event. Here's a graphic showing the 1979-2023 daily median, maximum & 2023 melt area as a percent of the GIS area from NSIDC data. The June 27 melt area of 50 percent was extreme but below the June record.

Looking ahead - at what point will it be practical to do more farming in Greenland?

@cajun_cheechako @AlaskaWx @Climatologist49 there is already sheep farming in southern Greenland. And this year I saw potatoes and turnips on sale in the supermarket that had been grown locally. I suspect that suitable ground for farming may be more of an issue than climate
