Solar is getting to be a big thing here in Kauaʻi. My brother had his system installed this year.

Boy, howdy. Pretty amazed I got this text - considering I'm an Android/Windows user.
And all the way from South Africa!
Too bad the grammar is flawed and they spelled Ireland wrong ;)

Happy little clouds ;)
Is the higher one a lenticular cloud?

I generally like to limit posts from the bird site, but in light of the recent gas stove kerfuffle I found this too good not to share:

45°F and raining in Juneau, AK today, 0°F to below zero a couple of weeks ago. Our climate is so weird due to our location between the Pacific Ocean and a giant ice field ;)

Merry Christmas from the Richard Parker and Karen Parker household in Alaska.
Late comfort food dinner of tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Listening to the Philadelphia Singers at Logan Square, and remembering my wonderful colleagues, Audrey Bentham and Joyce Lieberman .
A blessing upon your houses from ours in Alaska!

Watching Lessons and Carols from St. John the Divine ((NYC) on now. Everyone came in with heavy coats, but less than 5-10% are wearing masks.

Alpen glow - from my porch, North Douglas (Juneau, AK) About 10°F

Clear and cold - not quite as cold as predicted. But still, we are just a few hundred yards from Gastineau Channel, which tends to moderate the temperature - so, for coastal SE Alaska, these temperatures are a bit unusual, and are predicted to be as low as 1°F tonight.

Very obscure query

I work at a number of stations in Alaska. At one station I found this 'unusual' Vince Guaraldi album - Oh Good Grief!
The station manager shared its unusual feature.
Side one is 'normal' but Side two is Grateful Dead, Anthem of the Sun.
(They discovered it one day on the air)
I have searched around, but no one/forum seems to know anything about it.
As a former recording/mastering engineer, a couple of things come to mind.
Good Grief is listed as WS1747
Anthem of the Sun is WS1749
Could be master platters got shuffled?
Also, there are copies of Good Grief listed from 1968 with some coding/ numbering errors, but those have the smaller WB logo, this one is bigger, and presumably later? Also, most Anthem of the Sun dics (that I can find), have an even different WB logo, but I did find a couple listed on line, with the same WB logo as this Good Grief!, and described as being a repress. (not a good picture, from eBay, but shows the same WB logo)
I'm very curious if anyone has run across this - surely they didn't press just one like this.
Thx

Not an ad but maybe helpful for ADD/easily distracted folks like me.
I lose things. I am on my third set of Bluetooth earbuds. I only buy inexpensive ones because I Iose them so easily.

I finally splurged a bit - Costco had these Skullcandy ANC Sesh earbuds for $30 off, $39. That's about $15 more than I usually spend, but these seem perfect for me!

Noise cancelling w/ an 'awareness' mode that lets you hear what's going on around you when they are in.

But the BIG WIN for me, and what really sold me, is they have Tile embedded. With the Tile app on my Android phone I can find them, and they even make a 'squeaky noise' while you are searching for them.

Will I lose these, eventually? Perhaps, but at least now I'll have a fighting chance!

Seems unfair somehow - 2 solid weeks (weekends included) working with the tower crew, in heavy rain and winds - now I'm sick as a dog and it's been like this the whole time I've been sick.
X-country skiing will have to wait.

Another clear, sunny day (3rd in a row) - after two solid weeks of rain and wind while our tower crew was removing, repairing, and reinstalling the KTOO FM antenna. Lovely to look at, but again, very cold (for Juneau).

Sunshine two days in a row in Juneau. (North Douglas porch view)
Trade-off - very cold ;)

At the risk of offending vegans
TW - deer hunting
.

Such a beautiful day - and I really do have the best boss. She sent us all a note today saying she was taking today off to go deer hunting!
(For those not living in SE Alaska, we have had weeks of heavy rain - not unusual, but days like this are rare and beautiful)
OK, I'm jealous, but this weather means our tower crew can finish work on the KTOO FM antenna, which has to be removed, inspected, and dried out.

Karen made this today! She is becoming such a great beader!
1/4 Cherokee, but her grandma didn't register & then the courthouse in OK burned down ;)
(OK, true, but couldn't resist tweaking the pretendians' silliness.)

Request to my gifted 'crazy cooks'. Came back from a month at camp with small potatoes that got too cold in the fridge - frozen, I think. Now soft, but not spoiled. Also returned to find turnips, parsnip, & possibly salvageable cabbage here.
Recipe tips? Have onions, garlic, etc

It just takes a couple of minutes - with RCV you can extend your vote by ranking - and to prevent your vote from being counted for a candidate you don't support, don't rank them. You can rank as many or as few as you wish.
