@0xabad1dea i dont get it and cant find info. can you elaborate or point me to a link about the bandcamp situation you are mentioning ?
@0xabad1dea f*ck.. thanks a lot for the info.
@0xabad1dea there is a petition online to ask the CEO to keep former employees https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/songtradr-recognize-bandcamp-united but I am not optimistic.. do you guys know any alternative that respect the artists and reasonably share money with them ?
@certainlytwice Hi - you could have a look at https://artcore.com/ - I'm not affiliated other than knowing the guy who set it up.
@Gilgongo Ah 93 % for the artists looks great ! I can't find my fav labels there (only really independant artists) but the catalog is filled with electronic music. I'll dig in for sure, thanks for sharing 😁
@0xabad1dea @certainlytwice Well that’s absolutely gutting. Are there good/up-and-coming alternatives to Bandcamp to $ support artists more directly that I could get on board with?
@laurel @0xabad1dea @certainlytwice lots of projects in the works, nothing that is a full on replacement at this exact moment.
there is Faircamp and Radio Free Fedi is in the process of hosting Faircamp pages for artists.
I am in the process of working with the head of NoType.Com in getting something going that should be a full replacement for bandcamp.
There's at least another one or two projects, but hopefully everything will merge in a way that supports each other and is legally obligated to maintain some sort of independence, for the sake of staff and artists and fans alike.
@certainlytwice they got bought out by an undesirable owner and half the staff got laid off immediately, including the ones talking about unionizing https://www.sfgate.com/tech/article/bandcamp-bargaining-union-layoffs-songtradr-18432047.php
