I was enjoying this episode of On The Media until that dreadful phrase "consumes comedy" stopped me in my tracks.

For the love of god, people, you don't have to talk that way. An audience may "enjoy" comedy; it does not "consume" it.

I know there are a million other things to fret about, most beyond our control. But this linguistic rot is self-inflicted damage. We can choose better words than "consume" and its evil counterpart "content".

@judell The language of buying and selling vs your language of being human — I’m not sure your language more accurately describes our society?

@chrisfcarroll @judell
my aim when using language is to build thought and open possibilities not merely to describe our miserable situation
