Hi there! My name is Clément, I am an evolutionary biologist interested in (Jumping Genes 🧬➰🧬) !

are really cool! They turn Cabernet 🍷 into Chardonnay, protect us from viruses 👾and also give their nice smell to roses🌹!

I really like to pretend I'm doing bioinformatics by playing Lego with software and making pipelines and methods for analysis and annotation. Here are some of them:
- : find and quantity transposons in short-reads data github.com/clemgoub/dnaPipeTE
- : detect and genotype polymorphic insertions using approaches github.com/cgroza/GraffiTE
- +Aid : a little tool to help manual curation of libraries github.com/clemgoub/TE-Aid

I am also a contributor to the a community centered ressource to learn and share how to analyze -- find out more here tehub.org -- YouTube: youtube.com/@tehub

Always excited to talk about anything, please reach out if you are interested in !

When I don't do science, I am passionate about music (I'm into DIY synthetizers these days), vinyl records, photography, skiing, video games and ah yes I am quite passionate about politics too!

Cheers!

Are grad students on here? Seems like it leans toward senior and mid career folks.

Q directed to grad students / postdocs who are checking this out:

What practices/behaviors would make this space useful for you?

How can senior folks best promote your work or interact w you here?

A proper #introduction. I'm Camille, a French researcher in #algorithmicbioinformatics . I work on methods for sequencing data analysis (often large scale). Based in CRIStAL lab/Bonsai team in Lille, France.

I am not a CS person in the 1st place as I come from a bioinformatics MSc, so still learning everyday.

I teach and working with undergrads and PhD students is a great source of joy.

I will also soon be a mother of 2. Thus interested in #womeninscience #womeninstem discussions.

I'm back!!!!!!!!!! After 3 months of being blocked due to my Perseid meteor video being flagged as intimate media, I wasn't able to get my account back unless I admitted to breaking the rule. Huge thanks to the BBC & to everybody who has been tagging support for me :-)

Our new empirical study published in @Nature shows that rapid changes in bat ecology and behavior – driven by habitat loss and climate variability – drove the emergence of Hendra virus, a fatal pathogen in horses and humans.

GALBA is our new pipeline for fully automated genome annotation with miniprot (by @lh3lh3 ) & Augustus (by @Goemario and team). GALBA can be easily executed with Singularity. We have similar plans for BRAKER. Stay tuned for PAG! github.com/Gaius-Augustus/GALB

Just wanted to share how great this tool to sample sequencing reads is! 👌 github.com/mbhall88/rasusa -- Thanks @mbhall88!

Hey #microbiome & #microbiota researchers. What's one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you started out working with microbiome data?

(I'm doing a thing I hope will become useful for newbies. Will collate and share after 😁👍). #OpenScience
