Reasons I love #games

For everyone there is at least one game they would enjoy.
I play grand strategy games for one and a half decade, played shooters in the 90s love indie games with neat mechanics, cool artwork or just nice ideas.
I played Mechwarrior Online exessively in 2015/16 and met the nicest people. We had not much in common than speaking at least a bit of english and playing games.
I met a dozen americans, a scot, a englishman, a czech guy, two french, australians, austrians and one guy from spain. I met an ukrainian who became best buddies with a russian bloke.
Games can change your live when you are a part of an inclusive and cool group of people. They are normal people and you learn that really the most people you will ever meet are nice.
Whatever you like to play I hope you enjoy your time with it. I hope it enriches your life or gives you a new perspective.

A little add on:
I later met an awesome woman in MWO.
Women have a difficult time when in online games so she never was on open coms.

She was and is one of the best mech pilots I ever met. She is one of the top drop commanders I ever worked with.
Why am I saying this? Because while the MWO community is ok, good even, it still has problems with catcalling and shit behaviour towards women, and that has to stop. They just want to play the frigging game. I want to play that frigging game.
Why do I love that woman? Because she is nice.
Thanks for listening. Game on <3

@commandelicious saw some of your gameplay vids on YT and may be interested in picking up a strategy game. I feel strategy is all that's left for me as I've spent a better part of my life playing games like WoW and fps', and whenever I try to pick one up I get bored rather quickly. I never played much rts or complex strategy, so we'll see :)

Reasons I love #games (strategy games and getting old)

@absolutus
Oh, feel the pain. I guess you are in your 30s as well and getting kinda too slow for fast RTS and shooters?
I certainly have that problem. The big 4 is approaching and it's no joke. That's part of the reason I loved Machwarrior Online so much, it's very slow paced and tactical decisions are at least as important as shooting and much more important than reacting in lighting speed.
I literally can't play RTS like Starcraft because I am too slow.
Supreme Commander (not the second one) is rather good but old.

strategy wise I play grand strategy games from Paradox (the swedes) like Europa Universalis 4, Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 4 and Stellaris
Completely pausable, complex to a fault and the learning curve is rediculous.
Strategy games are my thing. I just love to ponder upon a problem for twenty minutes.
And yeap, I am a 38 year old complete Paradox fanboy and I am not sorry for that :D

@commandelicious im 25 and not so much as slow but grossly repetitive and ultimately boring. I'll have to take a look at some of the titles you recommend there and try em out. Is Stellaris good for multiplayer?

Reasons I love #games (strategy games and getting old)

@absolutus Generally Paradox balances their games for multiplayer.
There will be a LOT of DLC. If you do a MP round only the host needs the DLC you want to play with.
Stellaris has the problem that it feels the same after a few playthroughs even though there are literally dozens of ways to play it but I think MP will help.
(I am biased, I have 600+ hours into Stellaris)
