What's with people calling this place "the fediverse" so much? It seems kinda culty to me (gives me same vibes as the metaverse). What's wrong with just saying "I'm on Mastodon"?
@conradludgate mastodon is an implementation of an open microblogging protocol.
Other implementations exist and interoperate with mastodon instances, so fediverse is more general and more accurate.
Also the coinage predates fb's use of metaverse.
