The elegant symmetry of the Finnieston Brass Foundry.

Dating from the late 1800s, it wasn't designed by a famous architect and it's not decorated in fancy sculptures and stonework, yet it's a building of functional beauty and it remains an important remnant of Glasgow's industrial past.

It will soon be knocked down and replaced with very generic-looking boxy flats.

Since its founding in 1899, tens of thousands of animals, famous and humble, have been interred. The French inscription on the stone reads, "To Caty.
