One from a few weeks ago that I have only just come across. It was taken shortly after sunrise in Glastonbury. That sky!

🌟 Near my house, there's an apartment building with a courtyard. Big deal, right? But if you walk up the steps a little bit, there's something about this courtyard that you might find really truly wonderful… cabel.com/2023/02/25/the-court

This may be my favorite miniature kit I've done.

It's a library! I made 93 tiny books during the whole process 😮‍💨

Garrett T. Morgan invented the first gas mask. He and a team of volunteers used his invention to rescue 32 workers trapped in a gas-filled tunnel 250 feet under Lake Erie. Garrett T. Morgan also invented America’s first traffic light. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackMastodon

🎗️Visited my mother “Millie” in Dorchester. She’s doing well 48 hours post breast cancer surgery.

Her message is to never give up hope and that you are loved❤️

Thank you to all for the positive energy☀️

I was intrigued by a picture of a puddle created by M.C. #Escher (1952) wikiart.org/en/m-c-escher/pudd so I decided to try recreating it as #TextileArt

It doesn't look exactly like the original. I realised that the number of lines in the original might be a bit difficult to recreate at this scale (about 18cm across), so I left out the tyre tracks. Conveniently for me, I decided it would be more peaceful to think of the forest not having vehicles roaring through it 😁

computers are hell

at least I was able to channel my frustration into an illustration of itself! like a real brooding artist!

Kids in Ice House

This exposure was made almost 20 years ago with an OK DSLR and zoom lens, gear I would be very sad to use now. This event will no longer happen. Every winter a town near me, Hanover NH, had a big skating party on a pond. Carving out chunks of ice with chainsaws and building houses and slides for the kids was part of it. The town has cancelled this event, because winters are no longer cold enough.

I don't know where they're heading, but at the moment, this penguin family seems to be migrating along the Kelvin Walkway in Glasgow!

They're in the an alcove in the wall opposite the old flint mill. Kudos to whoever's responsible for putting them there.

The new “historical” American Girl Doll was just released and I realized I pretty much had most of the clothes in my closet already, so please forgive me for this terrifying side-by-side.

Major sections: 1916-1920 (working for George Fabyan at Riverbank Laboratories); 1921-1938 (breaking codes used by smuggling rings); 1939-1945 (breaking codes used by Nazi spies in South America).

Mostly about Elizebeth Friedman's career; secondarily about her cryptographer husband, William Friedman.

(comment on "The Woman Who Smashed Codes: A True Story of Love, Spies, and the Unlikely Heroine Who Outwitted America's Enemies")

I just got an email from a former student of mine from 2003 who said my class was the only part of high school that didn’t suck (which made me sad she had such a rough time). And then I ran across this dedication in a book I just picked up. So I am thinking about how teaching is often a thankless job—especially lately and especially in Florida—and wanted to say to anyone who’s teaching:
1) sometimes kids thank you later
2) thanks for helping kids through the rough time they’re all having now

If you've ever wondered how I started with #clay, this art school project from around 12/13 years ago would be it!

'May Contain Spoilers' was a collection of images inspired by dark genre movie scenes, all recreated with air-dry clay models and props.

I only had a few hours to work on each image so they're all a bit 'rough and ready' but I think they have their own charm regardless. I'll share a few more of them soon. 🖤

Queen Fluff

This regal lady was a friend's long-haired tabby.

Her facial expression and "gown" of fur in this pose reminded me of Queenie from Blackadder II - blackadder.fandom.com/wiki/Que

Bealach na Ba (The Pass of the Cattle), on the road to Applecross in the northwest Highlands… 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This was once a drovers’ road for taking the cattle over the mountains to market. A road that has to be seen to be believed. It goes from sea level up to about 2000 feet and back to sea level over roughly 11 miles of the narrowest, twistiest and steepest strip of tarmac you can imagine. All worth the effort for the views though…

Firefall
Firefall is a relative newly discovered phenomenon discovered in Yosemite National Park not to be confused with the old firefall that was manmade.
This is a tough shot to get and some years it doesn't happen.
This is Horsetail Falls. In February, for roughly 10 days, the sun comes into alignment and reflects off of the rocks to create this phenom. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/fi #Firefall #AYearForArt #BillGallagherPhotography #HorsetailFalls #YosemiteNationalPark
