A while ago, I read about the psycholgical effect that kicks in when someone tries to fight for a good cause, but then makes a tiny mistake.
We are very hard on hypocrisy because our brains like when things add up.
I.e. a climate activist with a plastic cup triggers much harder than Elon taking a 5 minute flight in his private jet every other day.
The first feels wrong, while the second just meets our expectations.
I can't stop seeng this everywhere ever since.
'The EU is ready to agree that immediate open access to papers reporting publicly funded research should become the norm, without authors having to pay fees, and that the bloc should support non-profit scholarly publishing models.'
Just in case anyone didn’t know, the police are currently arresting anyone peacefully protesting against the coronation and its lavish extravagance during a time of national need.
Currently. Arresting. Peaceful. Protestors.
This is not my country. This is a dystopia.
This is big. No #embargoes. No #APCs.
"The #EU is ready to agree that immediate #OpenAccess to papers reporting publicly funded research should become the norm, w/o authors having to pay fees & that the bloc should support #nonprofit scholarly publishing models.
In a move that could send shockwaves through commercial scholarly #publishing, the positions are due to be adopted by the Council of the EU member state governments later this month."

Latest release of GrapheneOS replaces Qualcomm PSDS (XTRA) servers with a GrapheneOS server caching the data by default:

We've also fully removed the unnecessary User-Agent header instead of only removing the serial number from it as we did previously.
The only feature that matters for any social media experience is the people who are on it. I'm amazed at how many technology leaders forget this and get distracted by the underlying tech, protocols, features, etc.
Elon is a great example. He thinks he bought a platform. But what he really bought was a community. And of the two, the community has degraded far more than the platform.

#Hbelistan

#Twitter #encrypted DMs are going to be like a soundproof glass house. Sure, they can't hear what the people in it are saying, but they can see what they're doing. It's a step forward, but it's clear Twitter isn't in it for #privacy.
